Excellent Dedicated Server!

I just got a Managed Dedicated Server from Private WebHost and it's fantastic! The setup was so fast, and the performance is exactly what I needed for my project. Everything works perfectly right out of the box. I will definitely be getting more services from them soon! Highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and private hosting!

Decent VPN, minor connection hiccup

I tried their VPN service for a month. Signing up was simple, and paying with Bitcoin was easy. The download and installation of the client were quick. Most of the time, the VPN worked perfectly, offering good speeds for general browsing and streaming. I did notice a couple of times that it disconnected briefly, maybe once or twice a week, which was a bit annoying but reconnected quickly. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but something they could probably improve on. Customer service seemed okay; I didn't need to contact them beyond the initial setup. For the price and privacy focus, it's a good option, but not flawless.

Consistent performance as always

This was my third time using Private WebHost, this time for a High RAM VPS, and they've been consistently reliable. My previous experiences with their DMCA Ignored VPS were great, and this order was no different. Payment with crypto is always smooth, and the deployment times are predictably fast. No surprises, which is exactly what I want from a hosting provider. I keep coming back because their service is solid and their privacy claims hold up.

Good Offshore VPS, some setup needed

I recently bought an Anonymous VPS from Private WebHost, specifically a Linux VPS with NVMe storage. The ordering process was straightforward; I paid with Monero, and the setup instructions landed in my inbox within about 30 minutes, which was quicker than I expected for an offshore provider. The server itself has been stable. I'm running a few services, and the performance is adequate for my needs. Support was responsive when I had a question about getting my SSH keys set up correctly, they replied within a couple of hours. One thing to note is that it's pretty barebones, so you'll need to be comfortable with command line setup for most things. No cPanel or anything like that out of the box, which is fine by me for privacy reasons, but something to keep in mind if you're not used to it. Overall, a solid service if you know what you're doing.

How do you even apply a coupon code? Just paste it in at checkout?

A Alex 1 month ago
Yeah, there's a box for it during checkout. Can't miss it. Just make sure it's valid for what you're buying.

When you're finalizing your order, look for the 'promo code' or 'coupon' field. It's usually right before you hit the final payment button.

Trying to pick between Private WebHost and Njalla. Any thoughts on which one is better for just basic anonymous hosting?

R Renee Ito 2 months ago
Private WebHost is generally cheaper for similar specs, especially with crypto discounts. Njalla has a strong rep though.

I've used both. For strict anonymity and DMCA ignored stuff, Private WebHost wins for me. Njalla felt a bit more corporate, somehow.

Do I need to give them my real name or ID when signing up for a VPS?

S Sophie Beaumont 2 months ago
Nope, that's kinda the point of their service. No ID needed, totally anonymous.

R Renee 2 months ago
Definitely not. They pride themselves on not asking for personal info. Just pay with crypto and you're good.

How long does it usually take to get a VPS set up after you order? Like, is it instant or do I have to wait a day or two?

J June Lindqvist 2 months ago
Mine was pretty quick, I think it was less than an hour for the setup to finish. Way faster than some other places.

Depends on the server config maybe? But generally, it's pretty fast. They aim for quick deployment, usually within minutes if everything checks out.

Is there usually a discount if you pay for a whole year upfront? Or is it just monthly rates?

T Todd 1 month ago
Yeah, there usually is. I got a decent chunk off when I went for the annual plan last year. Worth checking.

Always check for annual billing discounts. Most hosts do it, and PWH is no exception. Can save you 10-20%.

Anyone know if they're actually DMCA ignored? Or is that just marketing speak?

C Colin Bennett 1 month ago
They are, yeah. That's a huge reason people go with them over others. I've heard good things about that aspect.

From my experience, they definitely lean towards ignoring DMCA. It's one of their core promises, so they stick to it.

Hey, thinking of getting a VPS here. What's the deal with payment? Can I use regular PayPal or is it all crypto?

T Todd 2 months ago
Nah, it's mostly crypto from what I remember. They're big on that privacy stuff, so Bitcoin or Monero are definitely options.

R Rachel Hughes 2 months ago
Yeah, I paid with BTC last time. Pretty sure they don't do PayPal. It's kinda their whole thing to keep things anonymous.
